About CAD Wing

Lee Matthews joined the Royal Marines just before his 18th birthday. His first deployment was Sierra Leone. What followed was two decades of operational service across three of the defining theatres of the 21st century: Afghanistan from the immediate aftermath of 9/11, Helmand during the 2006 escalation, and Iraq, where he spent years flying fixed-wing drones on reconnaissance missions, tracking IED networks from the air.

That experience gave him a specific understanding of what detection capability actually means under operational pressure. Not the brochure version. The version where lives depend on whether the system works or it doesn't.

After leaving the military, Lee spent two years inside a UK counter-drone company. He learned how the sector operated. In 2023 he founded CAD Wing.

CAD Wing is the UK distributor of UAVTEK counter-UAS detection systems, including UAVTEK Sense and UAVTEK Protect. UAVTEK designs and manufactures in the United Kingdom, with a sovereign supply chain and full NDAA compliance. CAD Wing supplies these systems to military and law enforcement organisations, government security agencies, and high-value sites requiring protection from drone threats.

The decision to partner with UAVTEK came after a live demonstration with procurement buyers present. The system detected. The buyers were satisfied. Relationships followed. Every system CAD Wing supplies is assessed by someone who has operated in the environments they are designed for.
